keep in mind that while mostly accurate to our current plan, the map in the article will probably undergo some gradual changes as development continues.

Political Situation

Argaes is not officially under rule by a single political power, but sometimes it's hard to tell. Trade City is accurately described as the economic hub of a small nation and is the capital of Noobland(obvious placeholder) .. its government focuses mainly on encouraging unification talks with the nations other two states; Zartam and Sonbral. Though Noobland's intentions are genuine, their perspective is disagreeable to Zartam and Sonbral, who have refused any serious discussions on the matter of unification.

Sonbral's conflict is fairly simple. When Argaes first revealed itself, it was blanketed by a thick forest. However, after a massive quake, a boulder made primarily of (a really hard ore / metal) suddenly rose from the ground, cutting off a vital river. The forest soon died, leaving a dusty wasteland. It was soon after this that explorers and settlements came to Argaes. (not many people ever got a first-hand look at the forest of Argaes) The people that settling in the east, named the are Sonbral. Many of the settlers came from Tonori and because of their conditioning, enjoyed the dryness and the heat.

The people who settled in the north opted to cut down most of their forest, in exchange for some farmland. It has worked out wonderfully, but they long ago saw demand creep higher than supply. Long story short, they rely too heavily on imports and desperately need more farmland. Being the smallest continent, Argaes has little land to spare, but only a small percentage of it is currently being used for agriculture. (the area around Trade City and Port Town)

Trade City's government is urging to somehow resupply the river to rejuvenate Sonbral to its former habitability. Sonbral is strongly opposed to this idea, because it threatens their way of life. More seriously than that.. Sonbral's capital is built in the bed of dried up lake, which the river used to feed. If the river flows again, the citizens of Sonbral will need to build new homes. Trade City has assured Sonbral that its people will be taken care of, but of course, Sonbral feels they have little reason to believe this claim.. they are also surviving quite adequately in what many consider a wasteland.

Zartam is basically the same thing, but about logging and junk like that.. it's the classic, way of life vs expansionism ..
