Based off a form of soldier's training in the older ages of TMW, the game recieved the nickname "Murder Ball", since wooden weapons were used to beat players instead of the checking now instituted (which is still a bit rough). The name stuck through the ages, even when the game took on a more civilized nature.
It is played with 3 to 6 players and 1 ball.
The object is to hold onto the ball for the longest amount of time. A round generally lasts about 2 minutes. Players who don't have the ball can check (tackle without grabbing) the player who does, eliminating him from the game. The player with the ball can throw the ball to other players (to prevent himself from getting checked). The last player standing, or the player who has held the ball longest at the end of the match wins.
Some strategies include:
Mob manipulation: tossing the ball to a player in the middle of a group almost ensures that he will get eliminated (it takes about 2 seconds after catching the ball to be able to throw it again). This is a good strategy for getting rid of players who are ahead of the rest.
Team & double cross: helping another player to get ahead will make the remaining players turn on the one winning, making it more likely for him to get taken out fast.
