Creating an Article, Phase One
Is this something like what you were looking for? Hope so. =) --Vink
Good idea, but to make the list really useful you could add a column for the maps they are found on and a column for the server file in which their script can be found. --Crush 20:33, 7 April 2008 (CEST)
Ah, yes, thank you, but I'm afraid I don't know anything about server files. Can someone help me with that? What I would like to do with the list:
add a column for where they are and for server files - done- complete it - will try
sort it alphabetically - done- add images - help needed
- put data in column for server files - help needed

- Well, I’ve made a try to fix some of the things on your list... ;) The tables could really afford an overhaul, but at least the info is there now. Except the images, which I won’t be touching. —Kess 22:36, 8 April 2008 (CEST)
- Merge with Finished_NPCs? (Or perhaps remove the latter.) Maybe rename this article to List of NPCs. --Kess 02:31, 9 April 2008 (CEST)
Thanks Kess! =) But I'm not sure it's best to include their titles ("the healer" and so on) in the Name column, when these titles are not visible when you see them in the game. However, I'm also not sure whether it would be better to add a column called Title or Profession, or not. What is your opinion? --Vink 05:15, 9 April 2008 (CEST)
- I agree that it might be good to call the article List of NPCs, since the list is a large part of the article, but the text part is more of an explanation of what NPC is, since that can't be obvious to everyone. Maybe it's better to keep it as it is now, the article called NPC, but the link from the Main Page called List of NPCs? If someone writes NPC in the search file, they come directly to this article. I'm new to wiki work, so I don't know if that would still happen if the article was renamed? --Vink 05:28, 9 April 2008 (CEST)
- Maybe the Desert part should have a subsection called Snakes' desert or something like that? The functions Rest and Talk are not very informative. Maybe we could include how much the rest costs and if the talk contains any clues or jokes? For example "Rest 100 gp" and "Talk (joke)" or "Talk (clues)"? --Vink 05:39, 9 April 2008 (CEST)
- All sounds good to me, and if I come around to it I’ll fix those things myself. A thought on the article’s name: delete Finished_NPCs, split the current article into NPC and List of NPCs. The main page links to the last one, articles may wiki link to an explanatory page of what an NPC generally is, I see no need for the old NPC list to still be here, but I leave that up to the devs (keeping/deleting/redirecting).
- A note on the “Talk†function text. I didn’t know what to write at the time and prefered not leave the field empty. I’ll leave it up to you to think of good things to write there. Maybe rename the column Function to Description which then can contain stuff like the NPCs profession, function and perhaps more specific location.
- The area/map names need to be checked, I wrote them from memory. For example, I now remember the first Bat cave usually is called the Hermit’s cave and the Snake Desert is often described as the Eastern Desert (where the desert below Tulimshar sometimes is named the Western Desert. And so on. Perhaps in addition to an arbitrary map name give the server name as well (like 8-1 and 10-1)?

Creating an Article, Phase Two
Am not sure whether I should keep the text above or delete it (would still be in the history).
To do
- Fix descriptive text (descriptions, functions, titles, professions, location, cost, ...)
- Arrange the information in a clever way
- Format the tables so they look nice
- Link to other NPC articles (I think there’s at least one other)
Questions
- Add server map names (e.g. “7-1â€) to areas)?
- Split into two articles: NPC and List of NPCs? (The Main_Page currently links to NPC.)
- Remove the article Finished NPCs?
Vink, I’ll leave this to you, unless you wish otherwise. It was fun finding all the information and playing around with images (I made a mess of their names though!). --Kess 13:26, 9 April 2008 (CEST)
