First steps
So you finally have your first character, and are logged in. You've spawned in Tulimshar Suburbs, north from the big Tulimshar town for the first time! Congratulations and welcome to the Mana World.
Before we actually start, there are important things you need to know first. Boring but important things like the default controls, rules, etc. Don't worry we will start fighting mobs soon.
Default controls
The game can be played by mouse and keyboard. While it is possible to play the game by just the keyboard, or just the mouse, it is suggested to use both.
Keyboard
The keys listed here are the default keys. They keys can be changed by going to Setup -> Input. To reset them to the default keys, click the 'Reset all keys' button. There are many more keys than the keys listed here, for a full list see the Setup -> Input.

Game Rules
Since the game is played together by every age, gender, and nationality there are some rules. The rules listed here are a copy of the real rules, and might therefore be different than the actual rules. The actual rules can be found ingame. We will show you where you can find these later.
Players breaking the following rules may be banned (up to and including a permanent ban) or have their characters reset at the GM's discretion:
- Do not abuse other players (insults, swearing, and the like directed to a particular person or persons
- No bots (including ANY AFK activity or automated following)
- No spamming / flooding (including trade spam)
- No begging
- Speak English on public chat
- Treat others the same way you would like to be treated
AFK botting will be determined by talking to players who are moving and/or attacking Automated following will be determined by observation
Sorfina
When you are ready, you can click on Sorfina. As soon as you move your mouse over Sorfina, you will notice the cursor changes to a speech bubble. Due to technical limitations of the client you can only click on her feet.
Sorfina will ask what language you speak. Please note that only the rules are translated. The whole game itself will be in english, no matter what language you choose. After choosing the language she will list the rules. Press 'Next' to continue the conversation. She will tell you how you ended up here, and that all your stuff got stolen.
She will ask whether you are looking for a job. Choosing 'That would be great!' will give you a basic tutorial about the Manaplus client. Choosing 'No, thanks. I already know how things are going.' skips the tutorial. Please choose 'That would be great!' for now.
She will then ask you to walk towards the carpet. You can use the arrow keys to do that.
Inventory
When you are stading at the carpet, she will ask you to get dressed. This can be done by clicking on the Chest. You will receive some clothes. To equip them click on the 'INV' button in the top right corner. By doing so the iventory window will be shown. The inventory window shows every item that is on you. At the top left of inventory window there are two bars. The first bar displays the weight of the combined items. It is important to keep this in mind as you will not automatically heal anymore when this bar is over 50%. The other bars shows how many items you are carrying. By clicking on the All / Usable / Unusable / Equipment / Potions buttons you can filter the items. To continue click on the clothes and press 'Equip'. When you have equiped these items talk to Sorfina again.
