Graphics Development

PNG

The Mana World uses the PNG format for sprites and icons unless the guidelines say otherwise.
If unfamiliar, read this.

For sprites that were accidentally submitted with opaque backgrounds, or if your editor is basic, you can ask me to edit it for you.
One method I use is:

  1. load it into the GIMP.
  2. In the Image box: ☞ Colors ☞ Color to Alpha (Alt + C, A, A) and use the background color.
  3. Make a new transparent layer under the base layer.
  4. Fill in the former background color behind the sprite while trying to match the opacity of the fuzzy areas.

Concept Art

I scan drawings to be colored in GIMP. Can also try more traditional with colored pencil, crayons, watercolors, markers, tempera, and acrylics. Rarely do I ever come across ink brushes, bristol board, India ink, pastels, or tech pens, Some of it is sold nearby, but is expensive.

Comics

Another hobby I have no time for anymore. Stached in a drawer somewhere is the start for 2. A TMW cartoon has a good potential benefit to the community. Go start one.

Sound Development

Music

I use a General MIDI synthesizer to some proficiency, and can record through a line-in (reverse headphone jack), but need simultaneous playback-while-recording ("cat /dev/dsp > /dev/dsp" is latent, don't know how else since my distro's Gnome audio options were dumbed-down)

Sound Effects

All I have for recording SFX is a marginal-quality mic, but I have used it to collect a pool of raw sounds to be warped and filtered through programs like Audacity. Some could be made into instrument fonts. Other than that, tinkering in Audacity with white noise, chirps, and wahwahs has potential.

Monsters

  • Zombie

Code

I can do TMW XML, basic eAthena scripting, Some C, HTML4, Some Python, and Bash.
I've also got the hang of using git. I plan to learn Lua to work with Manaserv through the CRs.
