You will probably find these useful when in jail. Lock-picking is an art practiced by many non-criminals, and it is considered a form of puzzle-solving. There are even lockpicking events worldwide. Still, in the instance of having a set of lock-picks handy, one can be assured that they will be able to get into (or out of) the place they are working on as their target, with a little time and patience. In some countries, it is illegal to carry around lock-picks without a good reason. What better reason is there than for making sure your bank's security system was working properly?
