About the city:
Mudoha is located in Tempus Keshlam. It is the capital of the Tempus Kingdom.
History:
A Mining city in the Tempus Keshlam region. Mudoha was built underground, surrounded by steep cliffs and connected to the outside world by dark tunnels. Villagers worked in the marketplace selling jewels and weaponry, in the mines excavating jewels, or training in the Kingdom's military.
The King Ecavub III surveyed the goings on and set up political trades and meetings for the surrounding areas. His grandfather established the two tribal armies, the Gukumun, and the Verinva. Each tribe specialized in a certain form of combat. for the Gukumun, agile and quick-thinking techniques were taught. The Verinva were built up, strong-muscled, tall, heavy weapon and armor weilding men and women.
The King lead his army to conquer much of the surrounding land, even though the city lived underground. They expanded their tunnels under the land they claimed, and excavated more jewels. Trade began with the other cities, trade of jewels. The other Kingdoms wanted the precious diamonds, opals, topazs, all of it. They bought it hungrily from Mudoha and because of this Mudoha grew to a prosperous nation. People visited the mine city simply to look at the jewels, or stare in awe at the brutal training of the two armies.
After many a years trade quieted down and visiting tourists ceased to come. As more and more years when by, and more and more jewels were excavated, King Ecavub III became more greedy, and hungry more power and money. He would've picked up a pickaxe himself had he not been so lazy and fat. Greed filled the city, causing merchants to swindle customers, and customers, merchants. People stole from the mines, or kept things they found for themselves.
King Ecavub began to tax harshly, and unfairly, and he was greatly disliked. But no one could overthrow him, no one was of noble blood. Except for his only son, Seldur Arcuu, who was born from one of the maids in the spire-like castle. He felt compassion towards the civilians, and so one evening he poisoned his father. He died after the first glass of wine.
Seldur rose to be the king, and many liked him. He was fair and just. Though he poisoned his father. Soon his own evil tendencies began to show. He had a lady slaughtered because her pet scratched him on accident. As Seldur became more corrupt, swindling other kingdoms out of money and thus hurting the economy, refusing to help Tulimshar when they were in great need, and taking many of the jewels from the mines for himself.
Meanwhile conflict arose in the army. Greed sprouted on their faces. They wanted the jewels as well. Sheda Moxun and Yumus Cugwin, both the leaders of the tribes, formed an alliance to take the jewels from themselves, and destroy Seldur, on the grounds that he was 'corrupt'.
Fear spread throughout Mudoha, from children to wife, from wife to husband. All who had not been touched with greed were entrapped in a position of fear. Sheda and Yumus sounded the drums of war on a early morning...marching from the mines with basket upon basket of jewels upon their backs and in their arms. Seldur was prepared. He planned to use the tribe's greed against them. Knowing he had no one to defend him, sabotage was the only way.
He gathered his team and together they disguised themselves as soldiers. They made a scene in which it seemed as if Yumus was trying to steal jewels. Then another commotion and it appeared as if Sheda was stealing. Both leaders and their crew began to argue viciously with one another.
The argument lasted for several weeks, until they finally decided they had to fight to decide who got the gems. Cival war broke out, a moment of clashing. Soon every day was a new battle, and every week a new count of death. Three years passed out and still war was fresh upon the streets. No one would give up the jewels.
By now many innocent were dead, and many more greedy. It looked hopeless. Seldur and his team snuck off, away from the city, where he hid in an undisclosed place. After six more years the war was over. Sheda died of poisoning, and Yumus of his wounds. Seldur returned to his city to find it nearly destroyed.
By raising it back up to it's former glory, he convinced the survivors he was a good person. The ties with other kingdoms faultered, for they could not trust someone who would fight their own kind. But the jewels pulled them through, earning them enough wealth to rebuild and rejuvenate Mudoha. The population rose once more, and things stabilized to a steady norm. Though scars of the past will always remain...in the deep dark halls of Mudoha.
Important Buildings:
The Mines:
Dark and unnerving, these tunnels weave throughout all of Mudoha
and the Tempus Kingdom, filled with jewels and other hidden mysteries.
Small, flickering lanterns are the only light to guide weary travelers or
brave miners. Some report monster sightings. Beware.
Palace:
A palace carved from the rocks. It is similar to a spire, rising
high along the city's stone cliff walls. It consists of about twenty-three
floors, and each floor has at least four rooms and a hallway. To get to
high floors in the building, they use something similar to an elevator
system, except theirs is lowered and raised by hand. Many large symbolic
jewels engrave the stone palace.
Academy:
This Academy is where people are trained for the army. Here people
learn the art of war, and are trained in weaponry. This is a well-kept
facility, flat roofed and wide. The two tribes Insignia's are emblazoned on
the front door, which was made out of gray stone.
