:I hadn't noticed you had already blocked the user, and MediaWiki seems silly enough not to check whether a block already exists. But removing a block does remove all blocks that are the same, heh. A change can be quickly reverted spam using the '''rollback''' link when viewing the diff of the last edit. If you do this, check whether the previous version is indeed spam-free. Email activation would be a nice option even though I'd prefer a [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captcha captcha].
