Description
Trading is a very important thing in The Mana World. In order to get items required for Quests or Magic or new equipment trading is often very helpful or even required - some quests are designed to make players interact with others. You can trade both money and items which also makes it a very useful and comfortable way of getting money.

Trading is part of the Skill system, if you want to be able to trade you need to follow the description below about the Trade Skill.

What To Do
# In the Hurnscald storage, South-west of the Soul Menhir, find the Trader near the General Store.
# Talk to him and ask him if he has anything for you. Go as deep as you can in the conversation.
# Pay 5 GP and read how the trade system works. Now you know how to use the trade!

What To Do Next
This part is only optional. You won't miss anything if you skipped it.
# After you got the Trade Skill, you can now try to trade with the Trader.
# He will give you few items for other items he asks for:
#* 4 Iron Powders for 1 Iron Ore + 1,000 GP
#* 5 Sulphur Powders for 1 Pile of Ash + 1,200 GP
#* 1 Medium Healing Potion for 3 Small Healing Potions + 500 GP

Note: Those are quite bad exchange rates but for beginners they might be useful if they can't find another player selling those items for decent prices.

Hints:
* ManaMarket is The Mana World's famous trade bot you can use to buy or sell items or equipment. Also it's Sales Report is very helpful as it shows you the value of all items it sold up to now.

How to trade
<span style="color:Black; background:NavajoWhite">Note: This description refers to Manaplus, the official client of The Mana World.</span>
* If you want to trade with someone right click at this person and chose "Trade" in the menu.
* If someone wants to trade with you a window saying so will pop up and you can chose whether you accept the incoming trade request, decline or ignore it.
* With the trade window opened either choose an item in your inventory by clicking at it and dragging it into the trade window and/or enter the money you want to pay ath the input box at the top of the trade window. <br>
** Note: Click "Change" after enterring the money or otherwise your trade partner doesn't know about which amount you added.
* Click at "Suggest Trade" and then "Agree Trade".
* Shop mode:
** You can establish a personal shop by going into your inventory, chosing an items, clicking at the "Shop" button and choosing how many of them you are willing to sell for which price (money only).
** You can right click at a player and choose "Buy" to get into his/her personal shop.
** Players with a shop have a "$" after their character name. However, if they establish the shop for another character than the one they are online with you might see an empty shop.

Warning: <span style="color:#FF0000">Refrain from trading when there is a server restart planned in one minute or less. The outcome is unpredictable and might even lead to the loss of all traded items and money!</span>

Possible reasons why a trade is not working
* Enable/Disabled trading: Press the "R" key on your keyboard and check the Debug chat tab.
* Trade partner is too far away. If this is the case the Debug chat tab will say so.
* One of the trade partners is on the other one's ignore list.
* One of the trade partners has an inventory overweight.
* One of the trade partners doesn't have enough free slots in his/her inventory.
* One of the trade partners have his storage (not inventory) still open. If this is the case the Debug chat tab will say so.
* One of the trade partners doesn't want to trade anymore.
